In order to comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are required by bureaucrats to give you the detail below.


Who is collecting the data?

Any data supplied by you to Save Our Hospital Services Devon is used by the organisation, via the emailing service MailChimp, to keep you informed about campaigns to protect local hospital and health services in Devon. We also use Google analytics on our website.

What data is being collected?

Any data which you supply to us. SOHS does not use any other way of obtaining data, and does not buy in mailing lists. By visiting the website certain information is collected automatically such as your IP address and your browser type.

What is the basis for processing the data?

The basis for using your data includes consent (as you provide us with your email address to be kept informed) and that of legitimate interests. SOHS is a not-for-profit organisation and data is only processed for the purposes of supporting the aims of the organisation, such as keeping supporters informed of developments, activities and events.

Will the data be shared with any third parties?

SOHS does not sell or share any data to any third party unless legally required to do so. The data is processed via MailChimp as the emailing management system used to keep you informed, as detailed above. We do not use underhand practices on our website such as hidden beacons, browser fingerprinting or clickstream tracking, and as far as possible we reject any attempt by third parties to obtain information to which they are not entitled. We use payment systems to accept donations or if you purchase any items via the website; Paypal has their own privacy notices. You may also contribute direct using bank transfer or by sending a cheque and each bank will have its own privacy and security processes to keep your information safe.

How will the information be used?

For the fulfilment of your instructions e.g. to send newsletters. We might also use data in an anonymous form to track the platforms on which the website is viewed so that we can optimise website design.

How long will the data be stored for?

Only for as long as necessary to fulfil the instructions, or to comply with legal requirements, with some leeway to allow time for data culling/deletion).

What rights does the data subject have?

You do not have to give us your details but if you do subscribe to the newsletter then you can access your details by clicking on the Update Preferences button included in each email sent via MailChimp.

You can delete your details by clicking on the Unsubscribe button included in each email sent via MailChimp. We would only retain any information for longer if it was required by law to be retained for a minimum period.

You can communicate with us anonymously using a re-mailer service. You can browse our website anonymously using a proxy server.

How can the data subject raise a complaint?

You can communicate with us by using the details on our contact page. This does not affect your statutory rights to complain.
